The last few weeks have probably been the toughest Mike Vrabel has experienced throughout his life and career as a professional football player and now a coach.

After getting caught having an illicit affair with former NFL reporter Dianna Russini, the New England Patriots’ head coach has generally been trying to save face, as well as his family.

Since he did not take accountability from the start, the media’s inquisitiveness about the 50-year-old was at an all-time high. But it is not the mainstream media that has been hounding him. Rather, anyone with a camera is trying to get a picture or video of him.

Some clips came out earlier in the week where he was followed from inside Salt Lake City International Airport. The video shows Vrabel ignoring questions and walking quickly to reach his car.

His wife, Jen Vrabel, has also not been spared. She was captured at the same airport, with her wedding ring intact. Amidst all of this, it became apparent that the Vrabels are dealing with a difficult time.

But when Mike Vrabel returned to the New England Patriots to appear in front of their season ticket holders, they stood up to applaud the maligned head coach.

From their actions, it seems the franchise faithful were not disturbed by his cheating scandal, and, just like the organization, are there to support the man who almost brought them their seventh Super Bowl.

Barstool Sports founder and die-hard Massachusetts sports fan Dave Portnoy was the first to talk about this incident. But at the time, he did not have the video to show. But even then, fans flamed him for throwing his support behind Mike Vrabel.

Then, once the video appeared, the criticism grew louder. Almost everyone commenting asked whether the Patriots’ fans had no shame in giving a man who cheated on his loyal wife with another woman a standing ovation.

I do know some people that have talked to Dianna, and this has been a horrific experience for her… It shouldn’t be that way, and the only reason it is because she is a female. This is a male-dominated world… To have her life altered and destroyed… Her life would never, ever be the same… Vrabel’s still got his job.

The Hall of Famer revealed that no one in the football circle was surprised by the allegations of cheating between the two. But what he did not appreciate was how Vrabel almost walked away unscathed, but Russini’s life has been turned upside down.

Cris Carter reiterated that in a man’s world, the mother of two has lost everything. Therefore, he questioned why there is a double standard in the league that does not punish both offenders.
