Chael Sonnen is among the biggest trash talkers in the history of MMA. The so-called “Bad Guy” was witty and had quick comebacks and terrific one-liners. Sonnen is known for his unique takes on the MMA world, as seen on his Youtube Channel. Sonnen appeared at podcasts before UFC 285, where he dropped bombshell information.
In his appearance on Flagrant, hosted by comedians Andrew Schultz and Aakash Singh, Sonnen revealed the biggest payday of his career. Sonnen said, “The most I ever made was 8.8 in one night. I made $8.8 million the second time I fought Anderson.” It is still unknown how much money he made because the speculation is Anderson Silva earned less money than him.
Chael Sonnen tells Andrew Schultz and his friends that Silva is reported to have made around 3.2 million, but he believes that Silva should have earned more. Especially in a PPV, the Champion is likelier to be the highest earner than the challenger unless the fighter Conor McGregor.

Sonnen has his way with words and can capture the attention of fight fans with beautifully articulated stories or his insights. Considering the recent scuffles between fighters and UFC for paychecks, by revealing his payday for the rematch against Anderson Silva, he has grabbed the attention of the MMA community.
Chael Sonnen Instigated the Jon Jones-Valentina Shevchenko-Holly Holm Love Triangle Speculation

Sonnen has always been more relevant than his counterparts with a similar resume because he is a master of storytelling. For instance, recently The Bad Guy promoted a love triangle between Jon Jones, Valentina Shevchenko, and Holly Holm. Heading into the UFC 285, Sonnen began appearing on various podcasts, starting with an interview with Ariel Helwani.
What made the speculation become serious was that Helwani kept trying to dodge the question about the love triangle multiple times. The speculation would have died down if Helwani had answered the question to the point. Helwani’s uncomfortableness in the interview only added fuel to the speculation.
Sonnen then went on to other podcasts to narrate his theory on a love triangle between Jones, Shevchenko, and Holm. Sonnen knows how to keep the audience engaged with stories or gossip. At this point, the love triangle speculation is just a rumor, not confirmed as factual.
