In Short
  • Jaxson Dart's political support for Donald Trump has sparked controversy among his teammates, particularly with Abdul Carter.
  • Aqib Talib believes Dart's actions will not disrupt the Giants' locker room dynamics.
  • Dart acknowledges the responsibility of being the Giants' quarterback and the varied impacts of his political stance.

Jaxson Dart resides at the center of the New York media, which has a history of sensationalizing every step of a quarterback’s life. Dart isn’t just playing for the Giants; he’s also the QB of the city that has been deprived of the joy of a Super Bowl victory for a very long time.

It’s best to keep a low profile, but the 23-year-old Ole Miss alum doesn’t do lowkey. He stirred up a frenzy in the entire nation by attending a Donald Trump campaign, announcing his political allegiance.

Naturally, his actions did not sit well with his Black teammates, especially edge Abdul Carter. Although Carter assured that everything was cool between him and his quarterback, fans and analysts aren’t buying into his explanation.

Former NFL corner Aqib Talib emerged as the voice of reason while discussing the topic on a recent segment of the Arena Gridiron Show. From Talib’s perspective, the controversy around Dart’s political ideology will not hurt the Giants’ locker room.

Talib spoke about Derek Wolfe, his former Denver Broncos teammate, who openly supported Trump. Despite that, Talib and the other African American athletes did not shun him. In fact, they attended Wolfe’s wedding back in the day and often hang out whenever the opportunity arises.

In the locker room, everyone got that attitude. It had never disrupt the locker room because that’s not what we are there for… We are here to win chips [Super Bowl]. It’s guys from all different walks of life coming together to win the chip.

Last week, conflict arose between Carter and Dart after the second-year signal-caller praised President Trump. He called out Dart on Twitter but later resolved their differences by talking with each other.

On Friday, Carter addressed the media for the first time since his tweet on Dart.

Some things are bigger than football, and this is one of those things. Jaxson is one of our leaders. He’s the face of our franchise. He not only represents himself in what he does, but he represent[s] all of us. And that goes for anybody who wears a Giants uniform. But if he chooses to align himself with a man like President Trump, it’s my responsibility based on what I believe and what I stand on to not only show my teammates that I’m against that but to show the world.

Despite how it may appear to the outside world, he and Dart are friends. Their views on national politics will not create any tension between them.

Donald Trump comes to Jaxson Dart’s defense

A few days after the campaign in New York, Trump appeared on the My View show hosted by his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump. The President of the country heaped praise on Dart’s appearance and even compared him to a ‘male model.’

Trump condemned the “harassment” Dart is being subjected to.

When Jaxson gets harassed a little bit, he’s also loved more, because we have more people than they do.

Jaxson Dart gets real about the ramifications of his actions

Dart spoke with the media after Friday’s practice and admitted that his actions can have a varied impact on different people, especially when it involves politics.

I [also] understand that I’m the quarterback of the New York Giants and that involves a lot of responsibility, it’s under a limelight, under a microscope, and there’s a lot that comes with that, and it’s something that I’ve embraced.

The Giants drafted Dart 25th overall in 2025. He went 4-8 as a starter, registered 339 completions for 2272 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. He further added 487 yards and 9 touchdowns on the ground.
