- Donald Trump praised Jaxson Dart's looks and potential as a quarterback during a campaign event in New York.
- Dart faced backlash from teammates and critics for attending Trump's rally, with some labeling him as "racist" and "stupid."
- The New York Giants are addressing the situation internally, aiming to avoid distractions as they move forward.
Donald Trump comes to the rescue of Jaxson Dart after the New York Giants quarterback faced backlash for attending his campaign in New York. Trump thought Dart looked like a “male model” and wished he had looked like him.
Speaking with his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, on the My View show, Trump shared his brief meeting with Dart at his last week’s campaign in New York. Donald Trump said:
I wish I looked just like Jaxson [Dart]. Is he a male model or what? He’s handsome, like a beautiful guy, a conservative guy.

Dart’s presence at Trump’s campaign didn’t sit well with his teammate at the Giants, Abdul Carter. The talented pass rusher immediately called him out on Twitter. Hate tweets hounded Carter from then on, before he announced that he and Dart had sorted out their differences.
However, the situation remained volatile. Social media left Carter alone and diverted its complete focus on Dart. Former players and analysts questioned the former Ole Miss signal caller’s political choices, given the fact that he shares a locker room with teammates who don’t have a soft spot for Trump.
Donald Trump praised Jaxson Dart
Trump did not end his monologue by comparing Dart to a model or by saying that he’s a conservative. He claimed Dart has the potential to be a great quarterback in the NFL.

Trump said:
He’s a young boy, but when he’s in the game, he moves the team, and I did not know him, but I watched him a little bit and he really moves the team. He’s got tremendous potential. [If] he stays healthy, he’s gonna be great.
Trump then directly addressed the backlash Dart received for supporting him. He added:
When Jaxson gets harassed a little bit, he’s also loved more, because we have more people than they do.
A political critic called out Jaxson Dart for supporting Donald Trump
Days after Dart’s appearance beside Trump, veteran political critic and the host of The View, Joy Behar, unloaded on the young quarterback’s actions. Behar said on Tuesday’s episode:
For somebody to back a guy like Trump whose history, and discrimination, and racism goes back to housing discrimination in the seventies and DEI attacks and Obama’s as apes.
𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚: TV host Joy Behar calls Giants QB Jaxson Dart "RACIST" and "STUPID" after he spoke at President Donald Trump's rally.

"When he's on a team that's 55%-60%, black people. That's the definition of stupidity and racist."

While Behar condemned Dart, fellow panelists Whoopi Goldberg and Alyssa Farah Griffin argued that Dart was entitled to his opinion as an American. Former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho presented a similar view on the matter.
Jaxson Dart spoke with his Giants teammates about meeting Donald Trump
According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, Dart discussed introducing Trump in New York. He heard from team leaders like Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Jameis Winston, and per Garafolo, they “worked through it,” and the team is “moving forward.”

Jordan Raanan of ESPN noted that the Giants are keeping the matter “internal” and trying their best to avoid making it a distraction.
Sources told me among the topics discussed was keeping things "internal" and not airing frustrations publicly. The Giants do not think this is something that is problematic now or moving forward. https://t.co/wVF2lIIOcf

The Giants traded up in the first round to select Dart 25th overall. For the first few games, he backed up Russell Wilson before taking over as the starter. He completed 216 passes (63.7%) for 2272 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions while also rushing for 487 yards and 9 touchdowns.
