“Possibly the WrestleMania 41 program”- Wrestling fans in favor of WWE’s reported first-time-ever feud for Randy Orton
WWE has a fresh name in mind to let him have a go at Randy Orton somewhere down the road in future. They've never had a singles match.
In what could be one of the most entertaining feuds of his career, WWE is reportedly planning to pit Randy Orton against LA Knight at some point, per WrestleVotes via SK Wrestling. There’s genuine interest within the company for it. However, it’s unclear how imminent that plan is. Currently, both men are on SmackDown.
Orton is dealing with the ongoing nexus between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens. Last Friday, The Prizefighter almost snapped at Rhodes. However, a timely intervention by Randy averted a reckoning. On the other hand, Knight is the reigning United States Champion. He beat Logan Paul to win his first title in WWE. But, as they say, there’s no rest for the weary.
The erstwhile Eli Drake is amidst a heated rivalry with Carmelo Hayes and Andrade. On the September 27 edition of SmackDown, Knight inadvertently cost the Mexican wrestler his match with Hayes. As a result, they’re now tied at 3-3 in six bouts they’ve had over the course of a few months.
Right now, Orton and Knight don’t seem likely to cross paths. However, it has to happen sooner or later. It’s not that they’ve never been in a match together. In fact, at this year’s Royal Rumble PLE, The Viper and The Megastar were a part of the Fatal 4-Way bout also featuring AJ Styles and Roman Reigns. The latter’s Undisputed Universal title was on the line.
Despite having the odds stacked against him, Roman was able to retain the gold. Styles got pinned, protecting Orton and Knight in the process. Then, at WrestleMania XL, The Apex Predator failed to capture the US title from Paul in a triple threat showdown involving Kevin Owens.
Fans offer their two cents on Randy Orton battling LA Knight in future
With the latest report claiming a behind-the-scenes interest in Randy Orton vs. LA Knight, it has majorly drawn positive reactions from the netizens. One fan on X sensed that it might be the apt match to card for WrestleMania next year.
Moreover, there are some who believe Randy channeling his evil ways up against The Defiant One would be very intriguing. However, to get there might be a long wait. Maybe not even at ‘Mania in 2025.
It’d be noteworthy to see how both superstars are booked in the upcoming stretch of WWE programming heading into the new year. There are also rumors of Orton potentially feuding with Cody Rhodes down the road. What happens first is hard to predict.
