Mike Vrabel faced the media for the first time since he missed day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft. The veteran head coach skipped the final day of the draft for personal reasons, seeking counseling in the aftermath of the New York Post publishing intimate photos of him with NFL insider Dianna Russini.

Reporters asked Vrabel to describe the situation with his family members during the time he stayed away from the team.

Really good. I appreciate that my family is great. I love Jen [Vrabel], I love the boys, I love my personal friends.

An April 9 piece of the New York Post disclosed photographs of Vrable with Russini taken at a luxury hotel in Arizona. Afterward, Russini resigned from her post at The Athletic while the publication investigated the legitimacy of the photos.

Later, former ESPN journalist turned independent YouTube creator Pablo Torre claimed that personnel across the NFL had suspicions that something was going on between Vrabel and Russini, despite the two being married to different people. In early May, TMZ uncovered video of the pair hiring a yacht to spend private time at a lake.

Vrabel addressed the evidence days before the 2026 draft and announced that he will skip the final day to seek counselling. Later, he was seen buying presents for his wife, Jen.

Russini, meanwhile, played a minor role in saving an old man trapped inside a flipped Jeep. Recently, Russini, her husband, Kevin Goldschmidt, and a few friends dined at a restaurant and attended Bruce Springsteen’s concert.

Vrabel returned to the Patriots facility earlier this week and spoke with the media for the first time in more than a month. After loosely discussing his personal life, the 50-year-old pivoted to his answer to football.

I can’t tell you anything other than I’m going to be out there today in full force. So I’m going to focus on today and the excitement that we’ve had and that we’ve built so far.

The Patriots hired Vrabel ahead of the 2025 NFL season. In his first year, he helped the Patriots regain their dominance in the AFC East and qualified for the playoffs. After defeating the Chargers in the wild card and the Texans in the divisional championship games, they faced off against the Broncos for AFC supremacy.

New England came away with a low-scoring 10-7 victory from the fortress named the Mile High. In their first Super Bowl since Tom Brady departed, the Patriots went up against the Seattle Seahawks. For the second straight year, an NFC team lifted the Lombardi Trophy, as Seattle won 29-13.

Ex-player is confident that the Patriots will reunite Mike Vrabel with AJ Brown

With Stefon Diggs no longer in the building and Kayshon Boutte’s future in doubt, the Patriots need a veteran wide receiver to tackle the sixth-toughest schedule.

The Patriots have been heavily linked with Super Bowl winner AJ Brown since Vrabel took over last year. After experiencing a gradual decrease in production, Brown has expressed that he wants to be traded to the Patriots.

Retired Patriots cornerback Jason McCourty believes that his former team will go to every length to reunite Vrabel with Brown.

All the people that are on the inside and that they know, continue to echo the same sentiment — that it’s almost a done deal, and [AJ Brown’s] going to be a New England Patriot.

McCourty said on the Up & Adams show

Vrabel drafted Brown in the second round of the 2019 draft when he was the head coach of the Tennessee Titans. Three years later, the Titans traded Brown to the Eagles. Shortly after, the Titans fired Vrabel.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the two teams are waiting for the June 1 deadline to announce the Brown trade.
