Blunt Journalist Asks Jaxson Dart Extremely Tough Donald Trump Question After Abdul Carter’s Rant
Senior Giants beat writer and journalist Pat Leonard asked Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart whether he understands the gravity of his actions and how it may affect the relationship he has with his teammates.

New York media can be very cutthroat, asking all the tough questions, and Jaxson Dart must quickly learn how to deal with them. His PR training won’t always come to save him, just like it didn’t when New York Daily News’ Pat Leonard confronted Dart with a question about Donald Trump.
Leonard asked Dart whether he understood that some of his teammates at the New York Giants would view him differently for supporting President Trump. Despite keeping a poker face, the second-year signal-caller kept repeating the same words.
I respect the question… I understand the question, and my statements and all that I have for you guys right now… That’s just, that’s just where I am right now.
Jaxson Dart replied
I asked Giants QB Jaxson Dart two questions after he delivered a five-minute prepared statement that didn’t really address his support of Donald Trump at all. Here were his answers. Full press conference @youtube #talkinball https://t.co/YIHiNuDBST pic.twitter.com/RGrOSz7r8O

The statement Dart referred to sounded tailor-made by a group of people with a general understanding of the media scene in the Big Apple. Dart took responsibility for his actions, but at the same time, appeared nonchalant about the gravity of the situation.
I [also] understand that I’m the quarterback of the New York Giants and that involves a lot of responsibility, it’s under a limelight, under a microscope, and there’s a lot that comes with that, and it’s something that I’ve embraced.
Dart said
Sure, former players Aqib Talib, Emmanuel Acho, and a few others aren’t too concerned about Dart supporting a controversial political figure like Trump, claiming that it won’t hurt the locker room, but the media clearly views the scenario differently.
Leonard also attended Abdul Carter’s press release. Carter was the first Giants teammate to criticize Dart after he attended a Trump campaign in New York. Carter made it perfectly clear that he can’t control Dart’s actions, but he can certainly remind him of how he feels about it.
If he chooses to align himself with a man like President Trump, it’s my responsibility based on what I believe and what I stand on to not only show my teammates that I’m against that but to show the world.
Abdul Carter said
Carter further clarified that the conflict regarding Trump will not come between his camaraderie with Dart.
Jameis Winston praises both Jaxson Dart and Abdul Carter for resolving a sensitive matter like grown men
According to reports from head coach John Harbaugh and New York Media’s Jordan Raanan, several Giants veterans and captains convened to discuss the matter. Among them were quarterback Jameis Winston, edge Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Brian Burns.

Winston faced the media last week and commended both Dart and Carter for sorting out their differences.
I’m proud of Jaxson [Dart] and Abdul [Carter] for having this conversation, getting in front of y’all and speaking what they would love. I’m proud of our team for understanding that, like, we don’t have to pick a side in this. We have to understand, we have to have support for other people’s, our team, like what they stand for.

Winston signed with the Giants last year and spent most of the season as the third choice behind Dart and Russell Wilson. With Wilson out of the picture, Winston is expected to assume the backup role in year two.
Former NFL wide receiver comes to Jaxson Dart’s defense
Dez Bryant played for the Giants’ division rival, the Dallas Cowboys, for a long time. Followers of the retired All-Pro wideout will vouch that he is very vocal about his political views. Last week, he tweeted for the first time about the entire fiasco about Dart.
I really don’t understand the hate Jaxon Dart got for introducing President Trump. Good or bad… if you support Trump or not… you’re in a lose lose situation. Politics and religion are difficult for sports. Folks have the right to believe in whatever the fuck they want. I don’t know… I just live by a code… As long as it’s not interfering with my [expletive]… do whatever you want because you’ve got to take whatever you’re on up with God. I’m too much of a sinner to be judgmental and political.

I don't…
The Giants brought in Harbaugh to make sure that he would be able to take care of such incidents with an iron hand. So far, that hasn’t been the case. As the NFL calendar enters the busy part of the OTAs, they must put an end to all the chatter before it drags on into the new season.
