In Short
  • The Los Angeles Chargers trolled Mike Vrabel in their 2026 schedule release video, referencing his cheating scandal.
  • The Patriots face a tougher schedule in 2026, starting with the Seattle Seahawks and including a matchup against the Chargers.
  • Legal experts suggest Mike Vrabel may need to pay millions to silence Dianna Russini regarding their scandal.

Mike Vrabel and his New England Patriots now know how tough their 2026 season will be after the latest schedule became available after several teasers. The head coach might be busy in his office with his staff, going over their strategy to attack every week in their bid to prove that their 2025 run to Super Bowl LX was not a fluke.

After opening the season against the Seattle Seahawks, the Patriots face a mix of playoff teams and some who could still be in the doldrums until their Week 11 bye. After their mid-season rest, they will take on the Los Angeles Chargers, whom they last defeated in the Wild Card Round.

After their offseason moves, the West Coast team fancies a chance to turn the tables. To state their intentions about what they feel their opponents are struggling with, the Chargers decided to troll Vrabel.

The video is set in the world of ‘Halo,’ the legendary video game, where they initially troll themselves for their embarrassing loss in the Wild Card round. Then, as the Halo quads with NPCs clad in Patriots’ costumes roll past, a signboard reads:

Next photo dump, 1 mile.

Just before the quads reach the Conference championship gate, a notification shows up in the bottom right corner that reads:

NY Post sent you a message.

These were direct shots at the Patriots’ head coach, obviously referring to the constant photo dumps appearing online of Mike Vrabel’s cheating scandal with Dianna Russini. This could be a way of trying to get under their opponents’ skin.

Mike Vrabel might have to fork out millions to silence Dianna Russini

The Los Angeles Chargers might have felt it was a good time to take shots at Mike Vrabel, but no other team decided to follow that path. However, it could all change if more and more details come out about his cheating scandal with Russini.

She is an adult. If she signs some sort of agreement saying that I will not disclose other materials about you, whatever they did, that’s a contract… Why are the Patriots paying for it? Why wouldn’t it be Vrabel? He is the one who’s at the issue… Millions, I guess?

Mike McCan said on WEEI

This was the attorney responding to questions about how the former NFL Insider could be stopped from coming out with a tell-all. There are rumors that she will, especially since the mother of two is the one who has come out worse between the two.

Russini will probably never be hired by a major media house or publication, which means her prospects of returning to her glory days as one of the highest-paid football journalists is over.

However, a tell-all about her relationship can bring her opportunities in digital media. But if she does that, it would impact Vrabel’s professional and family life. To silence her, McCann believes he will have to pay out in the millions.

Mike Vrabel’s Patriots have a tougher schedule than last year

Until Dianna Russini comes out with a tell-all, Mike Vrabel can focus on his relationship with his family and preparing for the upcoming season for his New England Patriots.

Last season, they enjoyed a very easy schedule as they won 10 straight games to power them up the AFC ladder. This season, it will not be that easy.

As per Warren Sharp‘s analysis, the Patriots will face a tougher schedule, but it is not as difficult as some other potential Super Bowl contenders.

Sharp ranks their strength of schedule as the 12th easiest in the league. That could offer some hope for Vrabel at a time when he will be under scrutiny every single second.
