When Myles Garrett signed an NFL record, four-year, $160 million extension ahead of the 2025 season, many assumed he would stay with the Cleveland Browns until the end of the 2028 season. A year later, the Browns accepted an offer from the Los Angeles Rams for the All-Pro defensive end.

Garrett will have more chances of winning a Super Bowl than he ever had in Cleveland. The Rams nearly qualified for the Super Bowl last year, only to be defeated in the NFC title game by Seattle.

With Garrett now part of the team, the Rams have both the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and the league MVP (quarterback Matthew Stafford) on the roster. Garrett is walking into a new system in LA, but defensive coordinator Chris Shula will let him play his natural game.

We’re still going to have our principals with that stuff, but we’re going to let [Myles Garrett] do what he does best, and we all know exactly what he does best. You’re not going to take Michael Jordan, LeBron [James], all those guys, and pull them out of their comfort zone. We’re going to work with him and put him in the best spots that we think for him and the defense to succeed.

Chris Shula said via the Rams’ official website

Garrett played 134 games for the Browns. He accumulated 412 tackles, 125.5 sacks, 149 tackles for loss, 18 pass deflections, 23 forced fumbles, and six forced returns.

Garrett is a seven-time All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowl pass rusher. He also bagged a couple of defensive player of the year awards.

Super Bowl winner gives his honest opinion on the Rams trading for Myles Garrett

The Rams met Seattle in the conference title game. Stafford threw for 374 yards and three touchdowns. Puka Nacua and Davante Adams combined for 250+ yards and a touchdown apiece. The Seahawks quarterback, Sam Darnold, completed 25 passes for 346 yards and scored 3 touchdowns. Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught 10 passes for 153 yards and had one score, while running back Kenneth Walker rushed for 62 yards and scored a TD. Seattle won 31-27, advancing to the final, where they defeated the Patriots.

Seattle went 2-1 against the Rams, but the win/loss margin across all three games was one score. So, the Rams could have easily won them. And they were dominant with Garrett. Now they have him, and Darnold is a little concerned.

Myles [Garrett] is a great player. Shoot, Jared Verse is a great player as well, but I don’t think we’ll see them until Week 16, so we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.

Darnold said on Pardon My Take

The Rams sent third-year edge Jared Verse to Cleveland in the Garrett deal. The rivalry between the Rams and the Seahawks is so fierce that Verse requested his former team beat the Seahawks in 2026.

As Darnold mentioned, fans have to wait until week 16 to see these two teams play. The rematch takes place on the final week of the season.

Where does Myles Garrett place in Pete Prisco’s Top 100 NFL Player’s list?

CBS Sports veteran analyst/insider, Pete Prisco, released his Top 100 NFL Players list earlier this week. According to Prisco, Garrett is the best player in the league. After successfully setting the single-season sack record last year, Garrett jumped from second in 2025 to first position on the latest list.

At second place is Garrett’s new teammate Stafford, followed by Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen at number three, and a pair of Bengals players, WR Ja’Marr Chase and QB Joe Burrow, rounding up the top 5.
