While the Qualifying segment during the United States GP weekend proved to be massively interesting for the fans as Carlos Sainz took pole position at COTA, the Main Race went above and beyond everyone’s wildest imaginations. Austin gifted all the Formula 1 fans with a surprising turn 1 incident, a shocking crash between two future team members, and a deja vu moment between two former rivals.

As the lights went off and the United States GP began with Carlos Sainz at the lead, it took Max Verstappen a mere second to surpass the Spaniard with a well-timed start to the race. But the Ferrari recruit did not wish to back down so easily, so he stepped up the game going into the first corner of the starting lap. And on doing that, George Russell‘s car came up behind his F1-75 and caused a crash that led to Sainz being the first one to retire from the race.

After Sainz, Bottas and Stroll also stepped out of the US GP, leaving Max Verstappen at the front, followed by Lewis Hamilton and, surprisingly, Sebastian Vettel at his tail. But in the end, the Aston Martin driver fell prey to a poor pitstop by his team and lost out on a potential podium in Austin. Read on to find out more about the results of the United States GP that was filled with several twists and turns for the fans.

While Carlos Sainz’s collision with George Russell made the headlines during the first part of the United States GP, it was Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso’s contact that sent the viewers into shock because of the sheer impact of it. While Alonso could still join the race following the crash, Lance Stroll’s AMR22 was almost shattered, and he had to walk away, despite being completely fine after such a horrible accident.

And then, it was Sebastian Vettel’s turn to surprise the fans. The 35-year-old, who announced a few months ago that he will be retiring from F1 at the end of this season, was running in the second place in the race for a long time. Till the 41st lap, Vettel’s pace and his stable position gave hopes to all his fans that this might result in a podium finish for him. But unfortunately, when Aston Martin called him into the pits for a tyre change, it took them over 17 seconds, and thus the German’s podium hopes at the United States GP were diminished.

The last part of the race was dominated by an all-consuming competition between Lewis Hamilton, who was at the top, and Max Verstappen, who fell down to P3 after a minor pitstop mistake by Red Bull. Lewis and Max’s fight reminded fans of those days in 2021 when the two were always at each other’s neck. In the end, Lewis Hamilton had to give in as Max Verstappen took the win at the United States GP, and became the only driver to win 13 races in a Championship season after Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel.
