The NBA 2020-21 Season, has been unlike any other. From the shortest off season to mid-season trade to a play-in tournament, this season has seen it all. Not only that fanatics witnessed marquee players like Joel Embiid, LeBron James, Kevin Durant etc. suffering through injuries. It was probably just then, when a relatively new player stole the limelight to showcase his talent and caliber for the 2020-21 Season MVP.

Justifying the same, it has been confirmed that, Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic has been named as the official MVP of the 2020-21 NBA regular season, beating Joel Embiid and Stephen Curry. Jokic, who was taken 41st overall in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets, is the lowest-drafted MVP in league history.

The Serbian superstar center dominated the league this past season, averaging career highs in points, rebounds and assists with 26.4 points per game, 10.8 rebounds per game and 8.3 assists per game. Jokic was the runaway winner, getting 91 of the 101 first-place ballots cast — 100 of them from a global panel of sportswriters and broadcasters who cover the league, the other being an aggregate first-place ballot compiled from fan voting.

Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid was second, Golden State’s Stephen Curry was third, 2019 and 2020 MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo of Milwaukee was fourth and Phoenix’s Chris Paul was fifth.

Without his partner in crime Jamal Murray, Jokic held the Nuggets at the top of the Western Conference.

Moreover with Damian Lillard being at his best in first round series against the Denver Nuggets, it was Nikola Jokic who stood firm on both ends of the court, to make his team rise above the stern competition. Jokic had a league-high 60 double-doubles and added 16 triple-doubles, which was the second-most in the NBA behind only triple-double king and former MVP Westbrook in this season.

According to the current scenario, Jokic did have better odds and performances to be ranked ahead of both Embiid and Curry.
