Carlos Alcaraz is a force to reckon with on the tennis court. With his brute force and elegant shots he can destroy any opponent. This is something that his role model Rafael Nadal can do very well. He can make his opponents play at his will and win matches by shocking them with his skills and great shots.

However, there is another role model that has inspired the current World No.1’s game. This role model is American classic movie Rocky series. The Sylvester Stallone-starrer movies and its songs motivates him to pursue excellence on the court as told by Carlos Alcaraz himself.

The Tennis Letter shared an excerpt from his interview on social media.

Carlos Alcaraz on drawing inspiration from Rocky movies: “I have the Rocky movie in mind all the time. All the songs, every match day in the car coming here, I play 3 songs from Rocky. Eye of the Tiger & some other music.. It’s something to motivate me.” pic.twitter.com/9n2niHmgpI

Carlos Alcaraz reached the Quarter-final of Miami Open 2023 after beating Tommy Paul in the previous round 6-4, 6-4. He will take on Taylor Fritz in this round.

The young Spaniard is on a dominant run since he started this season. He has reached the final of every tournament he has played this year. By winning the Indian Wells Open, he has shown his mettle and the desire to be the best. He is on the cusp of making history by winning the Sunshine Double. This could be his first step on the ladder to become one of the greats as all the members of The Big Three have won Sunshine Double multiple times in their respective careers.

In the Miami Open, in the second round, Carlos Alcaraz won the set and the match 6-0, 7-6 (7/5) against Dusan Lajovic. If a player wins a set 6-0 against his or her opponent it is known as a ‘bagel’. This is his career’s fourth career bagel. Only six players have been able to achieve the record of multiple bagels during their teenage years since 1990.

While six players have won multiple 6-0 sets as teenagers since 1990, Alcaraz has equalled Rafael Nadal for the most. The current World No.1 has equaled the record of Rafael Nadal who had achieved most bagels till now. However, it is expected that the kind of form Carlos Alcaraz is in, he with his forceful display on the court will be able to beat many players in the set 6-0.
