Roman Reigns attacked The Mysterios
On this episode of WWE Smackdown, the WWE Samckdown Tag Team Championships were on the line. The Mysterios defended their titles against The Usos. The show kicked off with the Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman walking down to the ring.
Roman Reigns’ segment
The Universal Champion says that he believes in being direct about how he feels. Last week, he wasn’t happy. But he thought about it for a week, and his position has changed about The Usos having a Championship opportunity.
It is no secret that he is the centerpiece and has allowed it to happen. But if Jimmy says that he is going to win, he better win. He calls Paul Heyman a Wise Man and orders him to get his cousins. Heyman ordered the timekeeper to play their music, as The Usos walked out.
Jey hugged Reigns and the Universal Champion told Jimmy that it was his turn to acknowledge the Tribal Chief. Jimmy said that he already did that at Hell in a Cell, but tonight was about becoming 7-time Tag Team Champions. Roman wished him luck and told him to make sure they win, bring hime the titles when it was over.
The Mysterios def. The Usos (retain WWE Smackdown Tag Team titles)
Dominik and Jimmy Uso started off the match. A shoulder block by Jimmy, at the start of the match, took Dominik down. Jimmy ran to the ropes but Dominik hit a drop kick followed by an arm drag. Rey Mysterio was tagged into the match as they double teamed Jimmy.
Jey went for a splash but Rey moved out of the way. Rey got to the ropes and hit a side head scissor take down. Roman Reigns was shown watching the match backstage. A head lock by Jimmy in the middle of the ring as Jey was tagged in. They double teamed Rey as he rolled to the outside.
Jey slammed Rey into the barricade and threw him back into the ring. Jimmy went for a clothesline, but Rey ducked, Jey was tagged in and Rey knocks him to the outside. Rey went for a slide to the outside but Jey Uso caught and hit him with a Samoan drop onto the table.
Back in the ring, Jey ran towards him but Rey tripped him into the turnbuckle. Both men were down. Dominik was tagged back in. The Usos were outside of the ring and a suicide dive by Dominik knocked them both down. Jimmy was thrown back into the ring.
Dominik followed with a tornado DDT off the top rope. He knocked Jimmy down and Jey off the ring apron. He went for the tag but Rey wasn’t there. They double teamed Dominik.
They go for the super kick on Dominik but Dominik moved out of the way. The Usos ran towards Dominik but Dominik lowered the top rope and the Usos went to the outside. Rey knocked Jey down but Jimmy Uso attacked Rey down.
Back in the ring, Dominik tripped Jimmy onto the second rope. He went for the 619 but Jimmy hit him with the super kick. Jimmy climbed the top rope and went for the splash but Dominik got his knees up. He rolled Jimmy up and got the pin in a controversial fashion as Jimmy’s shoulder was up.
Carmella def. Liv Morgan
A slap by Carmella at the beginning of the match as Liv chased her to the outside of the ring. Carmella got in the ring but Liv dragged her to the outside and threw her into the barricade. She threw Carmella again into the barricade. Carmella was throws into the ring as she kicked Liv down followed by a kick to the face.
Carmella hit a back elbow followed by a snap mare. Liv ducks and slammed Carmella face first into the turnbuckle. Liv ran towards Carmella but Carmella moved out of the way and applied a drop toe hold and the Code of Silence for the win via submission.
Bianca Belair – Bayley’s segment
The WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair walked down to the ring. She said ever since she beat Sasha Banks and won the title, Bayley has been pressed. But she’s done nothing about it. All she has done is laugh. But the WWE Universe is not laughing with her. They are laughing at her.
Bianca says that laugh is getting to her which is actually funny because Bayley is not the first person to do that. People have been trying to keep her down since she was 3 feet tall. People try to make her second guess herself or she would hear people say Bianca is doing too much.
Bianca left everyone behind and she won trophy after trophy, championship after championship. Bianca said she had dealt with the doubters and bullies but she never had anyone laugh in her face. That is utter disrespect and she is not standing for that. She challenged Bayley to a match at Hell in a Cell and Bayley won’t be laughing.
Bayley’s laugh was heard throughout the arena as she showed up on the Titantron. She told Bianca that the world does not revolve around her. She has been laughing at people like her through her entire life.
Bayley said this was her oasis as she was sitting on a couch surrounded by pictures of herself. She said Bianca wanted to give her a rematch, she accepts. And after she beats her, she will be laughing but she won’t be the only one laughing. Bayley began to laugh. The LED boards in the Thunderdome showed Bayley laughing.
King Corbin def. Shinsuke Nakamura
Right hands by Corbin at the start of the match but was countered with kicks by Nakamura. Corbin slammed him into the mat. Corbin went for a right hand but Nakamura got it into an arm bar as Corbin managed a rope break.
Nakamura tried to throw Corbin into the corner but Corbin slid off to the outside, hit Ric with a clothesline. He got back in the ring and slammed Nakamura for the win.
After the match, Corbin grabbed his crown and was about to leave when Ric ripped him up and Nakamura knocked him down. Nakamura wore the crown again as Ric played the guitar.
Apollo Crews def. Kevin Owens (retains Intercontinental Championship)
Commander Azeez who was banned from the ringside, attacked Owens before the match. Owens was in pain from the attack and was hit by a bodyslam by Crews. He stomped on Owens and attacked him in the corner followed by a snap suplex.
Crews attacked Kevin’s ribs. A running knee to the ribs by Crews took Owens down. Crews slammed Owens into the turnbuckle. Crews ran towards Owens but he threw Crews to the outside.
Owens ran to the ropes but slowed down because of his ribs. Owens got on the ring apron as Crews tripped him up. Crews hit him with an Olympic slam on the outside of the ring.
Crews went for a German Suplex but Owens reversed it into a German suplex of his own. Both men were down. Apollo placed Kevin Owens on the top rope and went for a suplex but Owens blocked it.
Owens hit a senton off the top rope but Crews got his knees up. Crews finally hit the German suplex. Crews climbed the top rope and went for the frog splash but Owens moved out of the way. A pop up powerbomb by Owens. He climbed the top rope but Crews got on the ring apron.
He grabbed Owens and hit the death valley driver onto the ring apron for the win. Sami Zayn ran down to the ring after the match and hit Owens with the Helluva Kick.
The Mysterios def. The Usos (retain Smackdown Tag Team Championship)
Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville were convinced that in the previous match Jimmy’s shoulders were up and it was an error on referee’s part. Hence, the rematch.
Dominik was in the ring with Jimmy as Jimmy knocked him down. A chop to the chest by Jimmy and Jey was tagged in. They double teamed Dominik. Jey hit a body slam. Dominik rolled to the outside and was hit with a suicide dive by Jey onto the outside.
Jey and Dominik were back in the ring. A head lock by Jey in the middle of the ring. Dominik with right hands but Jey knocked Dominik down. He tried to send Dominik into the corner but Dominik reversed it and Jey landed face first on the turnbuckle.
Jimmy and Rey were tagged in. Rey knocked Jey off the ring apron. Right hands and kicks by Rey followed by a springboard forearm. He sent Jimmy to the ropes and Jey was tagged in. Rey threw Jimmy to the outside and knocks Jey down.
A slide by Rey onto Jimmy on the outside. Jimmy was back in the ring and Rey threw Jey into the turnbuckle. Rey tripped Jimmy up and landed a 619. Dominik was tagged in and as he climbed the top rope, in came Roman Reigns who hit him with a Superman punch and the referee called for the bell.
Reigns hit Rey with a spear and threw him to the outside. He slammed Dominik into the ring steps and Rey into the barricade. Reigns hit both of them with steel steps. Rey was thrown over the barricade, as Dominik was thrown back into the ring.
The Usos attacked Dominik. Reigns applied the guillotine as Dominik passed out. Jimmy told him that was enough. Reigns dropped Dominik as Jimmy left the ring. Jey was about to leave, as Reigns got in his face.
