New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart has been receiving a lot of flak after he introduced President Donald Trump at a rally in New York.
He may have felt that it was the right thing to do, as it was the POTUS, but social media felt otherwise. He and the Giants organization were flamed for getting involved with the most powerful man in the world.
The situation reached its peak when teammate Abdul Carter questioned the gesture. Soon, some analysts joined in, suggesting that the playmaker’s actions have now fractured the locker room.
Once Giants fans threatened to boycott games, the situation took a turn for the worse. It then seemed as if the team asked the Ole Miss alum to provide a statement to the press at their OTAs.
I have extended family members who have fought in wars… So the president position has always been a position that I’ve well respected regardless of political affiliation, regardless of political party. And, you know, my, my intentions were, were just that.
Jaxson Dart said
The 23-year-old mentioned that it was a unique opportunity to introduce the President of the United States. That is not something that comes by now and then.

Basically, Jaxson Dart said he had cleared matters with his teammates, particularly Carter. But what drew some backlash again was when he did not issue an apology for his actions.
Jaxson Dart gets support after backlash continues
Among those criticizing Dart, many questioned why he would not apologize for engaging with Donald Trump, a President whose actions have left the country divided.
However, a lot of others came forward to defend the quarterback. They pointed out how the Utah native was doing what any citizen would when asked by the President to introduce them.
Others have done it in the past, and that alone makes it fine for Dart to do the same. They felt that he was just being himself, and not necessarily showing what kind of person he is. Check out examples of those reactions below.
This is America.

Jaxson Dart has the right to any opinion he wants, and he has the right to be as loud and overt about it as he wants.
And every other American has the right to judge him for it.
Personally, I’ve filed him in the John Rocker/Curt Schilling folder.
Why is Jaxson even having to explain himself he supports President Trump lol

Why should he have to apologize for simply supporting a candidate he believes in? It’s everyone else that should apologize to him for attacking his constitutionally protected, free speech rights!

Jaxson is a good dude. As an Ole Miss fan, I can tell you that New York is lucky to have him. He cares about his teammates, coaches, and the organization. He spoke the truth and understood the moment. People need to chill out on the politics. It's ok to have different opinions.

He did nothing wrong. If you have a problem with someone's political opinion, thats a YOU problem. Is this no longer a "free country "?
— Chevy Jas (@ChevyJas) May 29, 2026
He’s got nothing to apologize for!
— Bob (@beegross13) May 30, 2026
He shouldn’t have to say anything at all, this is America what is going on.
— Drew Lehman (@TeamLehmanAZ) May 29, 2026
Why does he have to explain anything? Everyone has the freedom to support whoever they want politically.

Dart ended his statement by asking the media and fans to stop talking about it, as the QB has cleared everything with his teammates. He and his Giants want to get back to football without this distraction affecting their preparations.
Jaxson Dart reveals discussions with Abdul Carter
After he finished his statement, reporters asked Dart whether there was going to be an issue among teammates about his exchange with Donald Trump.

He dismissed that question and referred to his statement. Then, another reporter asked whether he initiated conversations with Abdul Carter after the latter’s social media post.
We just talked… We’ve experienced adversity through a season and had to have each other’s backs – that’s exactly what we continue to do today… He’s my brother, and I know I’m a brother to him. At the end of the day, we want to be the best people and players for each other.

It seems the 2025 25th overall pick has ironed out everything with his teammate. This situation has become a massive distraction for the Giants, but hopefully, these statements will end the discourse for good.
